About St Luke’s Hospice
Not just buildings;
But a special way of caring for people since 1990.
Our expert staff understand the impact a life limiting illness and bereavement can have, not only on the person diagnosed but also on their family and friends.
Offering over 20 different services, we care for people, in Basildon, Thurrock and surrounding areas who have Cancer care needs as well as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone disease, Parkinson’s disease , HIV/Aids and Heart Failure.
Services are provided at our main Hospice, (adjacent to Basildon Hospital), our two satellite centers St. Luke’s House (Corringham) and Dove Cottage, (Billericay) as well as in patients’ own home through our comprehensive Hospice at Home Service.
Our commitment to care extends beyond our patients, to their family, their children, friends and carers, helping them cope throughout the patients illness and then in their bereavement.
We also offer Community Counselling services for children, young people and adults. The bereavement does not have to have a direct link to St. Luke’s and can be, for example, following death due to a road traffic accident, accident at work as well as through illness or diseases such as cancer.
Support is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for which, as a registered charity, we make no charge.
Our aim is to maintain and enhance the quality of life in our community, offering the right to be treated with dignity, sensitivity, compassion and understanding.
Our commitment to care is only possible because of people like you. As our costs rise day by day we need your help to enable us to meet the increasing demands made on our services. Although receiving support from our Local Primary Care Trust we will have to strive hard to maintain income levels. It costs over £3million a year to run our services, which means we need to raise around £9,000 every single day.
Income raised by our partnership in the Local Hospice Lottery is used for direct patient care, so by supporting us and taking part in the Local Hospice Lottery you will be helping us to care for our patients today as well as helping us to plan for the future; giving us the confidence we need to continue providing a quality care service.
