North Yorkshire Hospice Care
Herriot Hospice Homecare and Saint Michael’s Hospice are part of a family of services. The registered charity name for the services is North Yorkshire Hospice Care. The specialist care they provide touches the lives of so many families in and around their communities spanning the breadth of North Yorkshire, every single day.
Last year alone, they provided vital hospice care, emotional wellbeing and bereavement support to over 3,000 people in communities across Harrogate District, Hambleton and Richmondshire.
As well as in-patient care based at Saint Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate, the Saint Michael’s and Herriot HOME teams also visit people in their final weeks and days to help them stay in their place of choice for as long as possible. The HOME teams travel thousands of miles, 365 days a year to ensure people get the right care at the right time. This year, it will cost over £9 million pounds for the registered charity to provide its services. The majority of this care is funded by the generous support of their local communities, people just like you.
How playing the Local Hospice Lottery helps Herriot Hospice Homecare and Saint Michael’s Hospice.
Profits from the Local Hospice Lottery help towards the running costs of Herriot Hospice Homecare and Saint Michael’s Hospice, providing a regular stream of income which they can rely on receiving, each and every month. Not only does this help to provide essential care and support to families in and around North Yorkshire now, it also enables the Charity to plan and develop their services for the future too.
In 2023, £13.6 million was raised from ticket sales, with 2% spent on prizes, 12% spent on administration and management and 19% reinvested to recruit new lottery members. The remaining 67% was given to hospice care – an amazing total of £9.5 million. Local Hospice Lottery will give between 60% and 80% of profits from individuals playing in support of North Yorkshire Hospice Care to North Yorkshire Hospice Care. This is expected to be at least £695,000 over five years from August 2024.
