Queenscourt Hospice
Queenscourt Hospice has been delivering exceptional compassionate care for people with life-limiting illnesses across West Lancashire, Southport and Formby for over 30 years.
Specialist palliative care is provided either at home (including in care homes), in hospital or at the Hospice itself in the Inpatient Unit or as an Outpatient. Support is also available through ‘Queenscourt at Home’ where patients and their loved ones benefit from the Hospice’s holistic approach to palliative care. This includes access to physical, psychological, spiritual and social care all expertly provided by a multi-professional Health Care Team.
It costs £444 per hour to keep Queenscourt Hospice open, yet less than 20% of the funding required comes from the NHS. Queenscourt therefore relies on the support and generosity of their wider community to help raise much-needed income so that #teamqueenscourt can continue to provide compassionate care, when it is needed the most.
How playing the Local Hospice Lottery helps Queenscourt Hospice
Profits from the Local Hospice Lottery help towards running costs and provide a regular stream of income for Queenscourt, which they can rely on receiving, each and every month. This helps #teamqueenscourt to continue caring for patients and their loved ones across West Lancashire, Southport and Formby today, as well as enabling the Hospice to plan and develop their services for the future too.
In 2023, £13,644,000 was raised from tickets purchased by players supporting all participating hospices, with 2% spent on prizes, 12% spent on administration and management and 19% reinvested to recruit new lottery players. The remaining 67% was given to hospice care – an amazing total of £9,163,000. Local Hospice Lottery will give between 60% and 80% of profits from individuals playing in support of Queenscourt Hospice to Queenscourt Hospice. This is expected to be at least £1,300,000 over five years from July 2024.
