Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home provides vital care for terminally ill children and their families throughout Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Wiltshire, Swindon, Bath & North East Somerset. Jessie May’s vision is a world in which all children and young people with life limiting conditions are empowered and able to access the support they want for themselves and their families. The money raised by people taking part in the Local Hospice Lottery helps to fund these essential services and enables Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home to keep caring for local families, when and where they need it most.
How playing the Local Hospice Lottery helps Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home
All of the services provided by Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home are given completely free of charge and this is only made possible through the ongoing support of the local community. Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home only receives 15% of their funding from the NHS so need to raise over £1.5 million every year to keep its vital services running.
Profits from the Local Hospice Lottery help towards the running costs of Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home and provides a regular stream of income which they can rely on receiving, each and every month. Not only does this help to provide essential care and support to local families right now, it also enables Jessie May to plan and develop their services for the future.
In 2021, £10.6 million was raised from ticket sales, with 3% spent on prizes, 12% spent on administration and management and 18% reinvested to recruit new lottery members. The remaining 67% was given to hospice care – an amazing total of £7.14 million.
Local Hospice Lottery will give between 60% and 80% of profits from individuals playing in support of The Jessie May Trust to The Jessie May Trust. This is expected to be at least £250,000 over five years from April 2022.
