Lucky Meghan (left) from Hackney was overjoyed when she won £2,000 on 28th October, through playing the Local Hospice Lottery in support of St Joseph’s Hospice!
Meghan said: “I pretty much live next door to St Joseph’s Hospice; it is a part of our community and our life. My children actually went to the nursery right by the Hospice, and a special moment was when the nursery children used to come into the Hospice for lunch. There was an intergenerational programme which was really special, for the kids and for the people here. It’s always been close to our hearts and close to our home.
Somebody in Sainsbury’s asked if I wanted to play the Local Hospice Lottery over five years ago, and I have been playing without thinking about it.”
When asked how she felt about her win, Meghan said: “I felt surprised, shocked and it was unexpected. But it reminded me of something you can do without even thinking. I play the Lottery and Sponsor a Nurse – I’ve been doing it for years. It’s given me cause for thought; obviously, it’s lovely to receive this, but you also get reminded of the work done and how special and important it is for the community.
It reminds me of what this is about and how important it is – it struck a chord for me in terms of the value. Ultimately, It makes a difference – it’s been a good refresh and reminder.”
Meghan plans to spend her winnings on a family trip away next year! She wouldn’t have won the money to do this without her ongoing kindness towards St Joseph’s Hospice!
