Former home carer Madalaine is a regular at St Wilfrid’s Hospice café and when she saw people signing up to play Local Hospice Lottery when visiting with a friend, she thought she’d give it a go!
“The way I looked at it, I knew the money would be useful for the hospice,” Madalaine said.
“I was very surprised when a lady phoned recently to tell me I’d won, because I don’t normally win anything. And to win £2,000 puts a smile on your face! I don’t know what I’m going to do with it yet, I’ll pop it in the bank and have a little think about it. I’d encourage other people to play the Local Hospice Lottery in support of St Wilfrid’s because I took a chance, and it worked for me. So, if it’s worked for me, it can work for others!”
Melanie Thompson, Supporter Development Database Officer at St Wilfrid’s Hospice, said: “It’s always exciting when one of our players wins so we were delighted to meet Madalaine and her husband Cliff to present her cheque. More than 10,400 players win a prize every year with the Local Hospice Lottery and as a benefitting hospice, we receive a regular and reliable income from every draw”
