A £2,000 win for Meg, a Helen & Douglas House supporter!

Since 2011 Meg from Oxfordshire has supported Helen & Douglas House through playing the Local Hospice Lottery, and this £2,000 win was the biggest amount she’d won so far! In early November, she visited the Hospice to experience first-hand the impact that playing the Local Hospice Lottery had on the children and families cared for by Helen & Douglas House.

She was given a tour of the hospice and the opportunity to look around the sensory room, play area, pool and flats where families stay overnight. Meg said  “I was very impressed to see the fantastic facilities at Helen & Douglas House, providing professional care not only for the very ill children and their parents but also for their siblings. With a lovely garden, various bright and well-equipped activity rooms and accommodation for families it provides a place for families to have times of respite and relaxation in the stressful life of caring for children with life-limiting illnesses”

I also learnt about other activities that are provided for the large number of families under their care, who many never actually need to use the facilities but can benefit from days out or parties with others who have such demanding responsibilities.”

Alex Hegenbarth from Helen & Douglas House said “I would like to offer Meg our congratulations for winning the weekly top prize of £2,000. There are 201 weekly prizes totalling £5,200 to win. It was lovely to meet Meg and show her around the hospice so she could see the difference her support, through playing the lottery, has made to the lives of local families.

The Local Hospice Lottery is very important to us as it provides a regular income we can rely on to fund vital care to local families. It’s a great way to help a local charity but also be in with a chance of winning prize money too.

THANK YOU Meg for your on-going support, and congratulations on your win!
