What is a Hospice?

A hospice cares for the whole person, aiming to meet all of their needs - physical, emotional, social and spiritual, and also to provide support for their carer/s. Whether care is given in a patient's own home, an inpatient unit or day care hospice, a specialist team of health care professionals will provide a range of services tailored to meet the individual needs of the patient and their family. Hospices care for children or adults who have cancer and other life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.
