£55 MILLION now raised for Hospice Care!

Local Hospice Lottery began life in 1996 as Farleigh Hospice’s own Lottery to raise additional income for the hospice care they provide to the mid-Essex area. In 2008, the decision was made to expand the Lottery for the benefit of other hospices across the Country. Since those humble beginnings, Local Hospice Lottery has grown to work with 35 hospices across Great Britain, and this number continues to grow year on year. Our annual contribution to hospice care has increased every year since 2008 and hitting the £60m raised mark in October was a big milestone in our exciting journey.

Gary Hawkes, CEO of LHL said “As a team, we have a huge sense of achievement! £60 million is an awful lot of money which enables a significant amount of care to be provided through our partner hospices across Great Britain. The money raised by players in the Local Hospice Lottery has touched the lives of tens of thousands of hospice patients and their families, and I am so proud that we’ve been able to make this contribution.

NHS funding for hospices is limited and varies widely across the Country. The cost of running and maintaining such vital services can easily exceed £15k per day, so it is essential that we continue to raise as much as possible, ensuring that our hospices can keep supporting patients and their families during their toughest times.

With more hospices seeing the benefits of partnering with us, we look forward to welcoming more on board in the coming months and years!
