Rita plays the Local Hospice Lottery in support of St. Luke’s Hospice after her father, Victor, was cared for by the Hospice.
The win came as a complete shock: “I was surprised to receive the call – I just couldn’t believe it at first. Once it sank in, I was so excited, and my grandchildren were thrilled too!
“I play the Local Hospice Lottery as a way to support the work of St. Luke’s Hospice. They cared for my father six years ago and the level of care they provided was incredible. They even came at night to help with his injections. I was genuinely surprised and moved by how far they went to make him comfortable.”
Rita is donating a portion of her winnings to the Hospice and is also giving some to her grandson who is preparing for a charity trip to Cambodia. She said: “I’m putting some aside for the grandchildren and hope to book a holiday for me and my husband. He’s living with Alzheimer’s and I’m his full-time carer, so this win has been an uplifting moment for me and my family.”
