This lucky couple won £2,000!

Sandra and John, a retired couple from Pontefract, plays the Local Hospice Lottery in support of The Prince of Wales Hospice and won an amazing £2,000 in May!! 👏🎉

The couple have been playing the Local Hospice Lottery since they made the switch from a national lottery. They chose the Local Hospice Lottery because they knew it supported their nearby hospice, which they believe is a very good cause.

Sandra said: “I get so many cold calls every day, I thought it was just another one. But they said my first name, Sandra, so I waited to see what they wanted. When they told me I had won, I couldn’t believe it.  I started shouting to John, who was in the garden – ‘I’ve won! I’ve won!’ – I was so excited I didn’t realise that the neighbours could hear me.”

John is a cancer survivor who has battled three different cancers, so the hospice’s work is close to their hearts. He said: “I support the hospice because you never know when you might need it.”

When asked what they plan to do with the money, they said they will save it for the future, just in case they need it. They also want to treat their daughter for her silver wedding anniversary this year.

In a generous gesture, Sandra donated some of her winnings to the Hospice. She added: “I would recommend the Local Hospice Lottery as it supports local people, and every little helps.”
