Congratulations to Celia, the volunteer!

On 25th November, Woking & Sam Beare Hospice celebrated a £2,000 Local Hospice Lottery win with one of their long-serving volunteers, Celia!

Celia began volunteering for the Hospice over 20 years ago and continued until the pandemic. She loves gardening and brought her passion to the Hospice by arranging flowers on the ward for patients and their families to enjoy. Nowadays, she spends time gardening at home and likes to welcome people into her open garden as part of the Horsell garden safari.

Celia played Woking & Sam Beare’s Hospice lottery for as long as she can remember. In March 2024, the Hospice decided to transfer their lottery to the Local Hospice Lottery instead, and now their players have had two large wins within nine months! Their supporters have so far helped to raise over £145,000 for the Hospice – an amazing achievement!

“I couldn’t believe it,” says Celia. “I don’t know what I’ll do with the money yet, but I know that I will give some of it back to the Hospice as it is such a fabulous place.”
