Former Dorothy House patient wins £2,000!

The 7th of May was a lucky day for one Dorothy House Hospice Care supporter when he scooped a massive £2,000 in our weekly draw!

Frank, who has been playing the Local Hospice Lottery in support of Dorothy House for eight years, went to the Hospice last week to collect his cheque. He said: “I started playing the Local Hospice Lottery because when I lived locally I received exemplary treatment from Dorothy House and used to visit the Day Patient unit regularly. Although I now live in Surrey and receive treatment at the Royal Marsden, I am very grateful for my care at Dorothy House.”

He added that he would spend part of the prize on a new mobile phone: “My eyesight isn’t what it was, and I need a bigger phone.”

How the Local Hospice Lottery supports Dorothy House Hospice Care

The Local Hospice Lottery provides Dorothy House with regular income that helps them deliver outstanding palliative care across 700sq miles. To date, players like Frank have helped to raise over £3.8 million for the Hospice!

Matt Goody, the Fundraising Engagement Manager at the Hospice said: “It was lovely to meet Frank and see how delighted he was to win the prize this month. We are really thankful to all of our Local Hospice Lottery players. The contribution they make towards patient care in our community is invaluable.”

Dorothy House is one of many hospices throughout Great Britain supported by the Local Hospice Lottery. With the help of the kind players, we expect to raise at least £3,200,000 over 5 years from April 2022!
